Accelerating Crop and Animal Breeding Enhancement through HT Genotyping: Harnessing the Power of Genomic Selection
Date: Monday, January 15, 2024
Time: 4:00 PM - 6:10 PM
Place: Town and Country B
Description
Join us for a session where we explore recent collaborations and the technologies shaping the future of genotyping. In this workshop, Steve Asquith, 3CR Bioscience Managing Director will introduce our new European lab services and high-throughput genotyping instrument range, in collaboration with MolBreeding Biotech and HC Scientific. Professor Jeff Dunne and Dr. Ryan Andres will share how their Peanut Breeding & Genetics program at North Carolina State University combines PACE reagents with a user-friendly set of computational tools to implement an efficient and economical marker-assisted selection pipeline for peanut cultivar development. Serina DeSalvio from Texas A&M University will shed light on an innovative use of PACE technology for pathogen detection. Learn how she and her collaborators have devised a method using PACE genotyping reagents to identify viral infections in cotton plants, with applicability to other crops, and beyond. Dr. Xu from MolBreeding Biotech will discuss high-resolution genetic analysis and molecular breeding through genotyping by target sequencing (GBTS) and capture-in-solution (liquid chip) multiple-SNP arrays. Finally, Dr. Wang from the University of Alberta will share insights on the optimization of commercial pig production efficiency through genomic mating.
